Room Detail The Pompano Beach is dramatically situated overlooking Bermuda's southwest coast, adjacent to the Robert Trent Jones designed Port Royal Golf Course, in Southampton parish. The resort's location is considered one of the best beachfront settings on the island, offering breathtaking ocean views from every part of the property.
Since the resort is tucked away from the island's main road, guests feel as though they've escaped to a private, secluded hideaway - yet, they are only minutes away from the best that Bermuda has to offer. Most of the island's popular south shore beaches (Horseshoe, Warwick Long Bay and Church Bay) are a mere ten-minute ride from the resort.
Golfers love the fact that the resort is right next to Port Royal, the island's top rated public golf course (with the first tee only a 500 yard walk away) and only a ten to fifteen minute drive from three more quality golf courses (Riddell's Bay, Belmont Hills and Southampton Princess).
The Pompano Beach Club has the perfect location to allow you to easily experience what Bermuda is all about.
Southampton Parish: 15 miles from airport; 8 milesto Hamilton.

Hotel Features
Activities:
* Golf: The Pompano Beach Club is a golfer's paradise because the Robert Trent Jones-designed Port Royal Golf Course (which has been ranked among the top public golf courses in the world) is right next door. The first tee is only 500 yards away, and many of the resort's guest rooms have a good view of Port Royal's oceanfront 8th green.
* Tennis: Guests have the option of playing tennis on either the resort's oceanview clay court or on one of Port Royal Golf Course's four all-weather courts (which are located only 400 yards from the resort).
Court time during the day is complimentary on all five courts, and racquets and balls can be borrowed from the resort if you opt to leave yours at home. You can also purchase cans of new tennis balls at the resort's front desk. Court time can and should be reserved in advance - contact the front desk to reserve court space.
A few of Port Royal's courts are lit for night play; however, a fee is assessed if you choose to play under the lights. Pompano does not have a "resident" tennis pro on staff; however, the front desk is often able to secure the services of nearby tennis pros if you are interested in hitting with a pro or taking a tennis lesson.
Even though the resort does not have any specific tennis attire requirements, proper tennis sneakers should always be worn on a clay surface.
* Fitness Center: The resort's oceanfront, air-conditioned fitness center (open from 7am - 11pm daily) offers the most breathtaking oceanviews of any fitness facility in Bermuda! Floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors stretch the full width of the fitness center, showcasing unobstructed views of the resort's picturesque waterfront. The other long wall has floor-to-ceiling mirrors (ensuring that you'll be treated to oceanviews no matter where you stand).
The exercise equipment (available for registered guests to use on a complimentary basis) consists of several treadmills, two Lifecycle stationary bikes, a multi-faceted weight station, stairmaster, cross-trainer, nordic track, abdominal crunch bench, aerobic mats, ankle weights, incline benches and numerous dumbbell weights (ranging from 5 to 55 pounds each).
The fitness center has spacious mens and ladies restrooms, complete with showers and changing facilities - which are ideal for those departing on late afternoon flights.
* Game Room: The game room is open from 7:00am to midnight daily, attracting families and couples of all ages throughout the day and night. It is equipped with an air hockey table, foosball (table soccer) table, ping-pong table and a Play Station II video game system. There is no charge to play any of the games and an assortment of Play Station II game cartridges can be borrowed from the front desk.
* Watersports Center:The resort's watersports center (which was completely rebuilt in February of 2004) is open daily (weather permitting) from 10am to 6pm, from early May until early October and offers a selection of different watercraft equipment.

Bars:
* The Pool Bar is located adjacent to the Coral Reef Cafe and is open from 11am - 6pm, April through November, and from 12pm - 5pm, during the winter months. It is conveniently located only a few feet from the resort's pool, meaning you won't have far to go to find a beverage if you are anywhere near the pool deck area.
The wrap-around style pool bar provides numerous interior and exterior seating options. It's cream-colored shutters open up onto the pool deck and blend nicely with the royal blue-colored tiles of the bar. You can enjoy spectacular ocean and pool views while seated inside at the bar or you can bask in the Bermuda sunshine while sipping your favorite beverage at the bar outside. You'll typically hear some soothing steel drum or "island" background music piped in via the bar's CD player, to help you relax.
Food can be ordered from the Cafe's lunch menu anytime between 12pm and 5pm daily.
* Enjoy a pre-dinner beverage in the resort's Sunset Lounge, where you'll be treated to the best sunset views in Bermuda. You can sip a refreshing beverage, overlooking the sea, in either the air-conditioned lounge or outside on the spacious open-air terrace.
The Sunset Lounge offers entertainment most nights of the week from mid-March through late November. There's never any cover charge - just a great time for all! So, let your day wind down by sipping an after-dinner drink, under the stars, while Bermudian entertainers play for your listening and dancing pleasure.
Beach:
* The resort has its own private beach, with plenty of chaise lounges, sand chairs and beach umbrellas for you to enjoy the warm Bermuda sunshine. At low tide, you can wade out over 400 yards in knee to chest deep water, along the resort's spectacular sandbar. Watersports enthusiasts and people of all ages and swimming abilities are attracted to the waterfront because of how shallow it is.
The shallowness of the water combined with silky smooth white sand enables you to see fish swimming along the sandbar. It's always comforting when you can see what's in the water around you and when you can touch the sand below you. Bride's Magazine has called Pompano's waterfront "the best underwater beach in the world".
Put on your mask, fins and snorkel and explore the brilliant coral reefs which line the edge of the shallow sandbar. Or grab a "noodle" and float effortlessly in the crystal clear ocean. Meander along the shallow coastline, in knee deep water, and find a secluded cove along the shoreline to relax in. The choice is yours. One thing's for sure - you simply won't find a more picturesque waterfront in Bermuda to explore!
Other On-Site Services:
* SAILING/SNORKELING CRUISE: From April through October, Bermudian Paul Terceira takes a maximium of thirty guests on fabulous four hour sailing/snorkeling trips, aboard his spectacular 44 foot custom-built catamaran, "Chelonia". These "not-to-be-missed" twice per week sailing excursions are available to the resort's guests only, from 10am - 2pm, at a cost of $60 per adult and $30 per child (under 14). The price includes a light lunch, open bar and all the snorkeling gear.

You'll be treated to a refreshing, adlib commentary on a broad spectrum of island topics in a very relaxed, personalized atmosphere. The trip costs $30 per person.
* ** Sign up sheets for all three excursions are posted each week at the resort's front desk. ** All prices are subject to change without notice. The prices are here as a guideline only.
Pool:
* The resort's heated, oceanfront swimming pool is dramatically situated overlooking their spectacular waterfront (over the years, Pompano's stunning terra cotta-tiled pool deck has been one of the Bermuda Department of Tourism's favorite spots to do photo shoots - including a recent one involving supermodel, Tyra Banks). The bright white balustrade railing set against the different shades of blue found in the ocean and sky, creates a sensational setting, with a bit of a Mediterranean feel.
Unlike many other resorts, Pompano's pools and jacuzzis are open 24 hours a day. The main pool features a colorful, mosaic-tiled "Pompano" fish on the bottom of it and has depths measuring from three to twelve feet.
Turquoise and white striped towels are available on the pool deck for guests to use on a complimentary basis at the pool, beach and dock areas. An ample supply of Tropitone chaise lounges, chairs and umbrella tables are available as well. Food and beverage service from the adjacent Pool Bar and Coral Reef Cafe is always available.
The pool and beach areas are stocked with numerous, colorful styrofoam "noodles" for guests to use as floatation devices on a complimentary basis.
A large, square-shaped wading/kiddie pool sits adjacent to the main pool. Pompano is the only small resort in Bermuda to offer this type of a shallow water pool. Small children enjoy frolicking in the 1 ? foot deep kiddie pool. When kids aren't present. adults often stretch out in this shallow pool to enjoy a good book or catch some rays.
An outdoor shower and faucet are conveniently situated atop the beach steps, enabling guests to wash sand off before entering the pool deck area.
Restaurants:
* CEDAR ROOM: The Pompano Beach Club has received many accolades for both the high quality cuisine it consistently serves and the superb oceanfront location of its Cedar Room restaurant. You'll be treated to gourmet cuisine that's imaginatively prepared by a team of international chefs and graciously served by a predominantly Bermudian waitstaff. Breakfast and dinner are served daily in this restaurant, while lunch is served daily in the Coral Reef cafe.
The restaurant gets its name from the cedar chairs, window frames and paneled walls throughout the room - most of which were made from original Bermuda cedar. The attractive cedar wood is accented by two pastel colored wall murals depicting Bermudian landscapes, which were painted by popular Bermudian artist, Mary Zuill. No matter where you sit in the Cedar Room, you're sure to have a good view of the ocean. The atrium section of the restaurant is full of hanging plants and one wall is completely covered with green foliage, giving the room a very tropical feel. Smoking is not permitted inside the Cedar Room restaurant or on the restaurant's oceanfront outdoor terrace.
* CORAL REEF CAFE: Located adjacent to the Pool Bar, the Coral Reef cafe (which is open from 12 noon to 5pm daily) is the ideal place to enjoy afternoon snacks or alfresco lunches overlooking the resort's picturesque waterfront. Taking a cue from the brilliant coral reefs which line the edge of the resort's spectacular shallow sandbar, the cafe's walls are adorned with colorful tropical fish figurines and Bermudian artwork.
You are welcome to dress as casual as you like while dining in the Coral Reef cafe - even wet bathing suits are perfectly acceptable. You have the choice of dining inside the cafe (with ceiling fans and ocean breezes maximizing your comfort), on the cafe's outdoor terrace (directly overlooking the beach and ocean), at the pool bar (where the background sounds of steel band and island music can be heard) or on the pool deck (shaded by umbrellas and mesmerized by the dramatic ocean scenery in front of you).
* SUNRISE COFFEE: Early risers can help themselves to a complimentary continental breakfast, which is served daily in the Sunset Lounge, from 7:00 - 8:00am. The self-service continental breakfast consists of assorted juices, cereals, yogurt and breakfast pastry, along with milk, coffee (de-caf and regular) and different flavors of hot tea.
Early morning is a great time of day to check your email and catch up on the news via the Internet or by reading a copy of the Royal Gazette (the island's "almost daily" newspaper - it doesn't print on Sundays), which is provided free of charge at the front desk.
Golfers with early morning tee times and scuba divers with early morning dives find the "sunrise coffee" set-up a great way to get something in their stomach before they head out, while others use it to "jump start" their day.
* EXCHANGE DINING PROGRAM: Guests on the Modified American Plan (MAP) are able to participate in an evening exchange dining program with three other Bermuda Collection hotels (Coco Reef Hotel, Cambridge Beaches and The Reefs).
All exchange-dining reservations are handled on a request basis through the front desk. You are welcome to sign up as often as you like, at any time during your stay. The number of guests able to exchange dine on a particular evening is determined by the number of people coming from the other resorts. Similar numbers of people must always be exchanged. When the other resorts have fewer guests interested in exchange dining, your requests may be difficult to fulfill.
The costs of your meal and service gratuity at the other resort are included in your room rate. The only expenses you will incur when exchange dining are any transportation, beverage or menu surcharge costs you may incur.
Exchange dining requests are not confirmed until 4:00 pm on the day you are hoping to exchange dine. If your request has been approved, the front desk staff will give you a card to take with you, to be given to the Maitre D' at the other resort.
The evening dress code varies at most of the Bermuda Collection resorts so please check with the front desk staff to ascertain the required attire at the resort you'll be dining at.
* ATTIRE: During breakfast, the attire in the Cedar Room restaurant is "casual." Shorts and T-shirts are perfectly acceptable. If a bathing suit is worn, proper cover-up should be worn over it. Please refrain from wearing hats.
During lunch, bathing suits and other casual attire are perfectly acceptable, since lunches are served poolside or in the Coral Reef Cafe, adjacent to the pool bar.
During dinner, the attire in the Cedar Room restaurant is "smart casual" every night. Men must wear collared shirts (T-shirts, including designer collarless shirts, are not permitted). Men choosing to wear a jacket must still wear a collared shirt under it. Children twelve years and older are asked to adhere to these same guidelines. Flip flops/beach sandals and jeans (including jean shorts and jean skirts) should not be worn by anyone during dinner.
